The story
The 500 C, the last Topolino, was not only a saloon, Giardiniera and Belvedere: on its running gear many small coachbuilders built vans and pick-ups for craftsmen and shopkeepers. This one carries the badge of Autocarrozzeria F.lli Sperotto of Thiene, in the province of Vicenza.
It reached the workshop on a recovery truck, rusted through on the cab and bed, with the floor all but gone. It was dismantled and taken back to bare metal, to see every area and rebuild the missing sections. The work is in progress: this page will be updated until delivery.
The restoration step by step
From rust to bare metal
- Step 1 of 2
How it arrived
Rust everywhere: wings, cab, bed. Inside, the seat has fallen apart and so little of the floor is left that you can see the yard from the cab.
- Step 2 of 2
Dismantling and bare metal
Wings, doors and bonnet come off, then the body and the bed are taken back to bare metal. Now you can see where the metal is sound and where it has to be rebuilt.
Do you have a vintage van or small truck to save?
Even when rust seems to have won: Mimmo assesses the vehicle, takes it back to bare metal and rebuilds the missing sections, including for clients in Switzerland. Tell him about your vehicle.
More restorations
This is only a small selection: over the years Mimmo has restored many more cars and trucks, and we'll keep adding them from the workshop's photo books.
