The story

The Flaminia saloon, styled by Pinin Farina and built from 1957, was Lancia's flagship: a V6 engine, taut lines and a wide, quiet cabin made for travelling in comfort, without hurry.

On this one the work focused on the interior, completely remade in leather with the original stitching and shapes: the front bench, the rear bench with armrest, the door panels, the backs of the seats with their pockets and the carpets. The mustard, next to the dark blue of the body, gives the cabin all its character.

The restoration step by step

A cabin all in leather

  1. Step 1 of 4

    The front bench

At the front the Flaminia has a single bench seat. New padding and new leather, with stitched lines on the cushion and backrest as on the original; the padded part of the dashboard matches too.

    The rear bench

At the back, the bench with its fold-down centre armrest: vertical pleats on the backrest, a soft cushion, edges and seams in the same leather.

    Panels and seat backs

Door panels with padded armrests, and the back of the front seat with its pockets and dark trim strip: every new piece takes its shape from the old one.

    The carpets

Light carpet across the whole floor, edged in mustard leather: it follows the tunnel, pedals and steps, cut and finished piece by piece.
